Saturday, January 21, 2012, 7:30-9:30 p.m.Grand Ballroom, 2nd floor, Sheraton
Twist and Shout seeks to evoke the atmosphere of early Beatles shows, with songs such as “All My Loving,” “I Saw Her Standing There,” “She Loves You,” and “A Hard Day’s Night” as part of its regular repertoire.Their shows typically recreate the Fab Four’s 1964 appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, as well as the more complex music of the later Beatles. In many performances, band members appear in brightly colored suits and epaulettes made famous by the 1968 album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.”
The shows also make use of video clips from the 1960s that capture both a turbulent era of social change and the enormous excitement that the Beatles generated in the United States.
“Twist and Shout: The Ultimate Beatles Review” has twice been voted Cabaret Show of the Year in northern Nevada, where the band set attendance records at Harvey’s Lake Tahoe.
Following a performance in New Jersey, an Atlantic City newspaper described the band as “virtually indistinguishable from the original.” Another Atlantic City publication commented, “Like the Beatles, each member of the cast of Twist and Shout is a quality instrumentalist. … The audience displays its appreciation of the talent with loud applause, swinging and swaying in place, and literally dancing in the aisles.”
