Cokie RobertsCokie Roberts, a longtime analyst and commentator for ABC News and National Public Radio, will deliver the keynote address during the MMA’s Annual Meeting on Jan. 21 in Boston.

Roberts, a graduate of Wellesley College, also will speak at the Women Elected Municipal Officials luncheon later that day.

A member of the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame, Roberts was named by the Alliance for Women in Media as one of the 50 greatest women in the history of broadcasting. She recently was named a “Living Legend” by the Library of Congress and is a recipient of three Emmy awards.

Prior to becoming a senior news analyst for NPR, Roberts served for more than 10 years as the organization’s congressional correspondent. Her work with ABC News included six years as the co-anchor, with Sam Donaldson, of the ABC interview program “This Week.”

Roberts collaborates with her husband, Steven V. Roberts, on a weekly syndicated newspaper column. The couple, who have been married for more than 40 years, co-authored “From This Day Forward,” an account of their marriage as well as notable marriages in American history.

Roberts is also the author of “We Are Our Mothers’ Daughters,” published in 1998, and two books about the role of women in the nation’s founding: “Founding Mothers,” published in 2004, and “Ladies of Liberty,” published in 2008.

A native of New Orleans, Roberts is the daughter of the late Hale Boggs, who served as U.S. House majority leader. Roberts’ mother, Lindy Boggs, was elected to Congress in 1973, following her husband’s death, and served until 1991.
